Patient Information
Background Information
Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As oral and maxillofacial surgeons, the doctors manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. Our practice is now limited to dentoalveolar surgery, including wisdom tooth removal, pre-prosthetic surgery and biopsy of oral lesions.
Our staff is trained in assisting with Intravenous (IV) conscious sedation or deep sedation. Patients are continuously monitored during surgery. Following surgery you will be escorted to our recovery area for a period of approximately 30 minutes. Your chaperone will be brought in to sit with you and should be present when postoperative instructions are discussed. Our staff will check on you periodically and upon discharge you will be sent home with fresh oral gauze, written & verbal instructions and the appropriate prescriptions will be faxed to the pharmacy you choose.
